श्री गुरु नानक देव जी के प्रकाशोत्सव के उपलक्ष्य में सिख जत्थेबंदियों द्वारा 5 नवंबर को जालंधर शहर के अन्तर्गत आते क्षेत्रों में निकाले जाने वाले नगर कीर्तन को लेकर डिप्टी कमिश्नर जालंधर जसप्रीत सिंह की ओर से बीते दिन स्कूलों में आधी छुट्टी करने का ऐलान किया गया था, परन्तु अब उन्होंने नये आदेश जारी करते हुए जालंधर के सभी स्कूल-कॉलेज तथा शिक्षण संस्थानों में छुट्टी करने का ऐलान किया है।
इस सबंध में जानकारी देते हुए डिप्टी कमिश्नर जसप्रीत सिंह ने बताया की विशाल नगर कीर्तन निकाले जाने के दौरान लोगों की धार्मिक भावनाओं तथा स्कूल कालेजों के विद्यार्थियों की सहूलियत, सुरक्षा व ट्रैफिक प्रबंध को ध्यान में रखते स्कूलों में पूरे दिन की छुट्टी करने का ऐलान किया गया है।
