टाटा हॉस्पिटल में कैंसर का इलाज करवाने के लिए देश-विदेश से लोग आते हैं और इनमें ज्यादातर लोग गरीब होते हैं. कैंसर के इलाज के लिए उन्हें कई तरह के टेस्ट डॉक्टर लिख कर देते हैं, लेकिन टाटा के ही कुछ कर्मचारी प्राइवेट डायग्नोस्टिक सेंटर को फायदा पहुंचाने के लिए पेशेंट को डॉक्टर द्वारा लिख कर दिए गए टेस्ट प्राइवेट डायग्नोस्टिक सेंटर से करवानी की सलाह देते थे.
कर्मचारी कहते थे कि यह टेस्ट टाटा में नहीं होते या फिर टाटा में अगर टेस्ट किए तो रिपोर्ट आने में ज्यादा दिन लगेंगे, जिस कारण इलाज में देरी हो सकती है. इस वजह से पेशेंट प्राइवेट डायग्नोस्टिक सेंटर में टेस्ट करवाते थे.
प्राइवेट डायग्नोस्टिक सेंटर को फायदा पहुंचाने और टाटा में आए मरीजों को प्राइवेट डायग्नोस्टिक सेंटर में इलाज कराने के लिए कह कर सरकार का लाखों रुपए का नुकसान करने के लिए मुंबई पुलिस ने 21 लोगों पर मामला दर्ज कर लिया है.
मुंबई पुलिस ने 11 लोगों को गिरफ्तार कर उन्हें कोर्ट में हाजिर किया, जहां कोर्ट ने उन्हें 21 जुलाई तक पुलिस हिरासत में भेज दिया है, तो वहीं मुंबई पुलिस बाकियों की तलाश कर रही है.
मुंबई पुलिस ने आईपीसी की धारा 409, 406, 420 और 120 ब के तहत मामला दर्ज किया है.
