The Department of Economics and Mathematics of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar organised an Induction programme for the new entrants. Principal Dr. NeerjaDhingra was the Chief Guest of the day and she congratulated them for choosing the best college for attaining their goals. This programme was organised to provide a common platform for the new entrants to acquaint them with the students of 2nd and 3rd year.
Dr. SupreetTalwar, Head of Department of Economics warmly welcomed them and also shared her views with the gathering on the topic – Employability and Employment Scenario in Economics. Through a PowerPoint presentation, she introduced the concepts of Statistics, Economics and about the changing trends and scenarios around the world. In this discussion, Dr. Simkee Dev from Department of Economics presented her thoughts on Impact of International Russia and Ukraine Crisis on Indian economy. She put forth how the war can affect many aspects of multiple countries like unemployment, Inflation, share market etc. This discussion was continued by Ms. Meera from Department of Mathematics who talked to the students about NPTEL , and digital e portals of education and also about the employment scope of Mathematics and Statistics. The students were also given the chance to speak and express their views on these topics. Few fun games were played to break the ice between them and to make them comfortable with each other. In all the whole event was successfully concluded and the students were feeling more connected and comfortable with each other.
