KMV celebrates National Handloom Day with full zeal and enthusiasm

Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) celebrated National HandloomDay to keep the textile Heritage alive and create awareness of Handloom fabrics. The celebrations were organized by Department of Textile Design and Apparel Technology along with P.G Department of Fashion Designing for the integrity of Handloom community and to recognize their contribution towards India’s socio-economic development. The purpose of the activity was to protect and promote the handloom heritage among the young generation. As a part of celebrations, exhibition cum sale of handloom fabrics were held at the college campus. Students displayed their handloom products like cushion covers, bags, tapestries, table runners, rugs, pot holders etc. prepared by them by using different handloom techniques. Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi congratulated the Department for the successful event and encourages the students to promote the Handloom culture. She averred that Department of Textile Design and Apparel Technology and P.G Department of Fashion Designing is continuously promoting the Handloom culture as a part of their syllabi.
